Terms of service
Objective:
Ensuring that consumers have access to fair and equitable services within the EU market and are adequately protected when using products or services, and facilitating the smooth functioning of the cross-border services market.
Core content:
Cross-border service protection: When EU member states provide cross-border services, consumers enjoy the same rights and interests protection as domestic consumers. Consumers can enjoy basic service rights such as refunds, returns, exchanges and compensation in cross-border service transactions.
Transparency and Disclosure: Service providers must ensure that consumers are fully aware of the terms of service, price, and possible additional fees before purchasing the service, and ensure transparency in service transactions.
Quality Assurance and Complaint Mechanisms: Service providers need to ensure that the quality of services meets EU standards and provide effective complaint and dispute resolution mechanisms for consumers. Consumers can lodge complaints through the EU's Online Dispute Resolution Platform (ODR).
Data protection: EU service policy strictly requires service providers to protect consumers' personal data and ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Optimization measures:
By strengthening information sharing and cooperation among Member States, we will ensure that consumers have access to consistent and high-quality services across borders, while improving the competitiveness and fairness of the intra-EU services market.
